Abstract
As Taiwan is promoting bilingual education to meet its 2023 Bilingual Policy, content teachers at primary and secondary schools are expected to teach their content courses in two languages, Chinese and English. To help prepare teachers for bilingual education, the Ministry of Education has initiated a few professional development (PD) programs for content teachers. One of these programs is to give content teachers opportunities to learn in an international context. The program under discussion is one that was implemented online in collaboration with Macquarie University to teachers of STEM and Integrated Activities. In this presentation, we will describe the MOE sponsored project, the curriculum design of the PD as well as the feedback from the participants and the facilitator who attended the course with the participants to provide language support. We will showcase this PD program to explore ways to empower content teachers in their bilingual journey.

A journey of How to Conduct Research and Get Published in top Academic Journals
Abstract
Academic writing and getting published in top journals are challenging and highly competitive, especially for junior scholars and graduate students. Even if you overcome the first barrier and come up with valuable, brilliant ideas or collect good research data, how you can then organize your thoughts and present ideas in a logical way that will capture the attention of reviewers is always a next hurdle. The three presenters will break their one-hour talk into three essential parts. The first presenter will first introduce the research types, and then guide the audience through the entire process of conducting research and getting published. Issues such as where to start, when to identify right journals, what elements to be included in the five chapters (structure of a research paper), and how to submit will all be addressed in the first half of the panel discussion. The second presenter then will focus her talk on the other important aspect of getting published, which is how to revise your paper and write responses to deal with reviewers’ comments and feedback after submission. Some critical issues, such as timely reply, direct response to the comments, and appropriateness of challenging reviewers or editors will also be tackled. The third will then share his experience as a senior SSCI journal editor on the quality and standard world top-journals, like Educational Technology and Society are seeking. It is hoped that the potential audience will gain some valuable strategies and tips on this particular topic, which would benefit them significantly in their future academic career development and arduous scholarly writing journey.
